For S7 Maths Challenges

I am heartened to see all of you trying so enthusiastically to solve the problem. Do remember to show your STAR values at all time :)

In a school hall, chairs were arranged in rows such that there were exactly 9 chairs in each row. For a concert, Mr Ong brought 6 more chairs into the school hall and rearranged all the chairs. There are now exactly 7 chairs in each row and 12 more rows than before.

How many chairs are there in the school hall for the concert?

Think through in simple English ... Break it down one sentence at a time.

In a school hall, chairs are arranged in rows such that there were exactly 9 chairs in each row.

In simple English ... there were rows of chairs, how many chairs in each row?

For a concert, Mr Ong brought 6 more chairs into the school hall and rearranged the chairs.

Think through ... the room already has _____ X 9 = ______ chairs and now

Mr Ong added 6 more chairs

AND REMEMBER, HE REARRANGED the hall again.

There are NOW (new arrangement) 7 chairs in each row
and 12 more rows than before.

Can we use any of these information to come up with any number statements?

Dear all, think through do not give up so easily :)
Always take one step at a time :)

Nothing is Impossible if You TRY!
